Dr. Sam Tsemberis, founder of Pathways to Housing, is hosting a 5-Week introduction seminar dedicated to implement Housing First models in our community. Pathways to Housing is a Housing First program based on the belief that housing is a basic human right. The program provides individuals who are homeless and diagnosed with co-occurring psychiatric, addiction, and health problems immediate access to permanent independent housing with supports without requiring treatment or sobriety as a precondition for housing.
The course offers a basic overview of Housing First as a program model for ending homelessness as well as ways best practices for direct service workers and program managers. This exciting opportunity offers a chance to learn from the creators of the evidence-based Housing First model used throughout the country.
The learning objectives for the seminar include:
- Week 1: An Overview of Housing First
- Week 2: From Street to Home
- Week 3: Clinical Operations
- Week 4: The Home Visit
